Our track cycling beginners sessions aim to enable young riders to try out track cycling, learn some basic skills and have the opportunity to progress further. Please read more on our Monday information sheet and our rider information sheet.
We can take only 15 bookings per session, as 15 is the velodrome's track limit for beginners. The booking system will tell you how many places are available. Demand for places is currently very high. If you can't book an Eastlands session, the velodrome runs its own youth sessions, which you can read about on its Session Overview page.
Who can ride? Riders must:
How many sessions? For new riders, we recommend booking four sessions to start. In general, you need at least four sessions to progress to intermediate level. If you progress sooner, we will apply any unused Monday session fee toward a Saturday (intermediate level) session, which requires first-claim club membership but not a booking. However we cannot guarantee that all riders will be ready to progress after four sessions. You can get additional track time and opportunities to develop on the velodrome's own youth sessions.
How to book: Make sure you have submitted the Monday Registration form (required). At the bottom of this page, click Monday Beginners or Beginners Summer Programme to bring up the right calendar. Enter the number of riders you're booking for, choose the date(s) you want and follow the prompts. You will get a confirmation email when you're done.
Session fees: £5.20 per place per regular Monday session (non-refundable). We accept debit and credit cards by Visa and MasterCard. Note: If you are a rider in the Summer Programmes (open to girls and to Manchester residents), there is no fee payable.
There is a £1 discount for riders who are residents of the Manchester City Council area. Residency is defined by Council records. Proof of residency, such as a Council tax bill, is required at your first session. To access the discount, please enter the voucher code you received when you registered.
Changes and cancellations: All payments are non-refundable, but you can reschedule as late as 48 hours before your current booking. To reschedule, open your confirmation email, click 'view booking details,' and click the Reschedule button.
Where are the sessions? Eastlands Velo is based at the Manchester Velodrome (National Cycling Centre), Stuart Street, Manchester, M11 4DQ.
What happens after you complete your beginners sessions? The coaches will determine when you have the skills necessary for our Saturday intermediate sessions. Please note that Saturday intermediate and Wednesday (advanced) sessions are club-only: participants must purchase first-claim membership in Eastlands Velo or Sportcity Velo. British Cycling licence holders must ensure that their licences show Eastlands Velo or Sportcity Velo as their first-claim club.
Questions? Please visit www.eastlandsvelo.com or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
These are club sessions for Eastlands Velo and Sportcity Velo members only. Currently we have two planned: Tuesday January 3rd and Saturday January 28th, both from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Riders must provide their own road bikes.
